Plurilingualism

Plurilingualism is a central feature of  AALE. While multilingualism describes the coexistence of different languages at the social or individual level, plurilingualism refers to the holistic, ever-changing linguistic repertoire that we develop throughout life, valuing the knowledge of other languages, however limited. From a plurilingual perspective, each language and dialect is viewed as a mental, social, and pedagogical resource. Plurilingualism promotes openness to languages and cultures, develops metalinguistic awareness, and enhances learner agency. As a pillar in the AALE project, it offers unique pedagogical opportunities that allow teachers and students to value and build on linguistic diversity.
