Scenario Planning
This video presents an Action-Oriented Approach (AoA) scenario focused on designing a sustainable travel experience and is intended to support teachers in understanding both the pedagogical rationale and the practical implementation of the scenario. You will find a step by step through the different phases of the scenario, illustrating how each stage engages students in meaningful, real-world tasks that promote collaboration, agency, and purposeful language use. Particular attention is given to how the scenario aligns with the principles of sustainable tourism, encouraging learners to consider environmental responsibility, community engagement, and ethical travel practices.
In addition to modelling classroom implementation, the video offers a behind-the-scenes exploration of how the scenario was developed. You will be taken through the scenario template used to design all AoA scenarios within AALE, highlighting how learning goals, competences, and teacher- and student-self-assessment are structured. A key focus is placed on the integration of CEFR can-do descriptors, which express communicative language activities, communicative competences, plurilingualism, mediation, and language learning strategies. In general, the video provides both inspiration and concrete guidance, enabling teachers to adapt, implement, and maximize the pedagogical potential of AoA scenarios in their own teaching contexts.
